Entry point 1 of 3
NPCYou step back and wipe the sweat from your brow with the back of your bloodied hand. The patient's chest rises and falls steadily, and though his life is not yet saved, he has at least some chance of surviving long enough to be operated on fully.
Lukha's Assistant"Thank you, thank you! Jovakha... he's like a father to a lot of us, you know? We owe him. And you..." The young sergeant falls into reflection.
Chirurgeon Lukha"My gran would tell me stories about the First Call-Up. It's believed that your ancestor used to say that even the doomed are worth saving, for their debt of gratitude leads to grand deeds. It's not our way to waste our efforts on lost causes, but now... Thank you once again. The regiment will not forget what you have done!"
Entry point 2 of 3
NPCYour efforts have failed. You step away from the dead man in the bed and wipe the sweat from your brow with your bloodied hand.
Entry point 3 of 3
NPCThe makeshift hospital is a hive of activity. Here and there, the wounded moan through gritted teeth. A man wearing a chirurgeon's armband and a lieutenant's insignia stands at one bed examining a patient, while a young assistant with the rank of sergeant rushes about.
Chirurgeon Lukha"There is nothing we can do here now. I'm sorry, Jovakha, but your chances are slim."
Lukha's Assistant"Jovakha taught half the regiment how to shoot! He's got God-Emperor-given talent as an instructor!"
Chirurgeon Lukha"Sergeant, this is part of our duty. If we make a futile attempt to save one doomed man, we will lose him and a dozen other soldiers we could have helped. Toughen up."
Drill Sergeant Jovakha"Lukha, I understand. Atonement for the one. Go and save some of the others... I'll just... manage... on my own. I don't want... to be... a burden."
YOU"What happened?"
Chirurgeon Lukha"Drill Sergeant Ondzej Jovakha was struck by one of the Drover's maces. We sutured the wounds from the spikes, but he seems to have internal injuries. Given more time, we might find a way to help him."
YOU"What happened?"

YOU[Try to save the doomed man] "Sergeant-Chirurgeon, you will assist."
YOU"I understand you have experience in such cases, Eogunn? Can you save this man?"
Eogunn"I do. Although the techniques I know are used in the sacrament of augment installation, some of the rites are applicable to treating a localised medical problem. Using these techniques will not obviate the need for surgery and infusion therapy, but will give the patient time for them to be administered. Initiating the application of sacred medicae protocols."
Lukha's Assistant"Thank you, thank you! Jovakha... he's like a father to a lot of us, you know? We owe him. And you..." The young sergeant falls into reflection.continues where this line first appears above
YOU[Grant the Emperor's Mercy] "All we can do now is grant him an easy death."
Drill Sergeant Jovakha"Please. I don't want to... suffer. It's time for atonement... for the one."

Kibellah"The Undying One had already whispered his name. And the Domin's hand bestowed upon him the greatest of all honours."
Lukha's Assistant"God-Emperor, it's getting worse by the hour..."
YOU"We cannot help here."
NPCYou turn and walk away, hearing behind you the groans of pain and the lamentations of the young chirurgeon trying to do something, but to no avail.

Argenta"This servant of the God-Emperor fought with valour and utter devotion. Do not prolong his suffering. He has earned the Emperor's Mercy for his loyalty."
