BlackSeveral melta-torpedoes are fired from the side of your ship, aimed precisely at the pyramid. It is not long before they make contact with the surface, when all the warheads suddenly change trajectory and smash into the nearest obelisk. There is no detonation — the giant monument absorbs the charges without any sign of damage.
YOU[Take a sample of the obelisk material]
BlackThe group of researchers manage to safely reach the obelisk and get what they are looking for. Midway through the return trip, vox-communication with their shuttle is cut off, and the shuttle itself switches to autopilot. Guided by the machine spirit of the onboard cogitator, the shuttle docks with the ship shortly after. The interior of the shuttle is strewn with the corpses of the crew, all of which have been bisected with perfect precision. The sample of the obelisk material has vanished without a trace.

YOU[Send a team to investigate the central structure]
BlackRumours of the terrible fate of the researchers trying to investigate the xenos creations spread through the ship very quickly, so the scouts descend to the pyramid with all possible caution. The mysterious structure is made of solid stone and lacks even a hint of doors or windows. Nearby, the scouts find evidence of an Imperial camp.
BlackAfter searching the camp, the team determines that it was set up by a group of pioneers sent to the planet by your predecessor Theodora. None of them survived — their bodies, covered in volcanic ash, have turned into mournful stone statues, almost completely robbed of their human form. The scouts bring the expedition's few surviving supplies and records back to the flagship.

BlackThe planet's crimson disk quickly diminishes in size, receding into the distance.

Entry point 2 of 3
BlackThe torpedo salvo makes the flagship shudder, and the xenos creation is blown to pieces by its crushing onslaught. The ship's engineers estimate that a direct hit should leave nothing but a melted wreck behind.
BlackExclamations of surprise fill the bridge. When you take a break from contemplating the aftermath of the salvo and glance at the auspexes, you see that the pyramid, which was split into pieces a few minutes ago, is becoming whole again. It does not appear that the direct hit from the melta-torpedo did it any harm at all.

Entry point 3 of 3
BlackThe auspexes send out alarm signals as soon as your ship enters the planet's orbit. At first, the cause is unclear — even though the planet's volcanic activity is immensely high, it poses no threat to your ship. However, when the Tech-Priests analyse the data more carefully, they discover an unusual finding. The northern hemisphere of the planet is spanned by a ring of cyclopean obelisks lined up at the same latitude. In the centre of this ring, at the planet's pole, stands a black pyramid. Faint traces of organics are present near it.
BlackYou look at the planet through the bridge observation screen... and suddenly you are struck with terror. An unbearable, gut-wrenching sense of emptiness inflicts agony on your mind. The planet is the epicentre of this emptiness, and it is sucking the energy of life itself out of everything around it.

BlackAn alarming howl echoes through the bowels of the voidship. A few minutes later, the Vox Master reports that every single psyker on the ship has fallen into a strange silent trance, and their life forces are rapidly fading.
