ChartistThe squad captain tinkers for a long time, trying to convince the machine spirits to grant access to the logs. After several unsuccessful attempts, the screen blinks several times, and the cogitator emits a long beep and goes dark.
YOUOrder the examination of the man on the throne.
ChartistTubes have been plunged into flesh and filled with a foul-looking substance. The strange machine cycles the fluids through the recipient's body. The main, thickest tube has been sewn to his lips — the poor man has suffered for decades, feeding on his own blood.

YOUOrder that the man be freed.
ChartistAs soon as the squad captain touches the man, he jerks back his head, ripping his lips from the tube with a sickening snap of skin. The bridge fills with the madman's bloodcurdling howls, but within minutes he breathes his last, convulsing and spewing black foam.

ChartistThe tortured bodies were curled up in a variety of poses, each one reflecting a different facet of unbearable agony. The flesh of these unfortunates seemed to serve as a canvas for the Drukhari's cruel experiments, from barely perceptible, shallow cuts to sanity-destroying burns. One of the corpses held an Inquisitor's insignia in its ossified fist.

ChartistGnarled corpses form a stomach-churning pattern of broken bones and dried meat. Only the twisted mind of a xenos is capable of perceiving the true meaning of this gruesome display. The squad quickly examines the remains and finds nothing of note.

ChartistThe logbook is a complete mystery: routes have been deleted, encrypted, or else they lead to uninhabited systems; the cargo has been classified; and crew names have been replaced with nicknames. Whoever owns the ship has done their best to cover their tracks.

Entry point 18 of 18
ChartistAn unmarked vessel drifts slowly past the flagship, its lumens extinguished, and its hull pockmarked with melted ruts from the salvos of unknown weaponry. A swarm of space debris circles the ship like insects over a decaying corpse. But more alarming is the feedback from your augurs — there is something alive in the bowels of the ravaged ship.
YOUIssue an order to make vox contact with the ship.
ChartistEerie sounds rip through the vox. The officers on the bridge fall silent as they listen to the whimpering moans. The unknown person does not respond to human speech.

YOUSend a squad to board the ship.
ChartistSquads of fighters board shuttles and set off to face the unknown. After a protracted silence, the vox crackles to life as the squad captain calls in his report on the situation. The docking area is dark and oppressively silent, with occasional groans from the ship's bulkheads.
YOUOrder the squad to explore the ship.
ChartistThe pale light of the lumens dispels the darkness. There are signs of a struggle everywhere: gunshot marks, destroyed furniture, and faded stains of dried blood. The fate of the crew remains a mystery — the ship's compartments are empty. The latest report from aboard the mysterious ship comes after an unusually long pause: the echo of a high-pitched cry has been heard coming from the ship's bridge.
YOUOrder the squad to find the source of the sounds.
ChartistThe vox frequency is filled with cries of horror from squad members, who have made a terrible discovery. On the bridge, a pale man sits on the captain's throne, wrapped in a web of tubes going in and out of his flesh. Around the throne, tortured corpses are laid out with sickening precision.
ChartistFurther inspection of the bridge helps piece the scattered evidence together into a complete picture. The ship had fallen victim to the Drukhari — after slaughtering the defenders, the xenos had captured the entire crew, with the exception of the officers. Their moans of pain echo from the bridge speakers, a soulless testament to the horrific torture the Drukhari inflicted on the people before they vanished.

Chartist(sequence)
ChartistUpon conducting the rite of communion with the augurs, Eogunn Februs compares the machine spirit's findings with his own calculations. He finds the data disheartening and after offering up mourning prayers to the Machine God, he reveals that it was this very vessel that brought him to the Koronus Expanse. Until this day, he had remained ignorant of the tragedy that had befallen it. His data indicates it formerly belonged to a Chartist Captain whose background is shrouded in mystery.
ChartistAs your eyes meet, he confirms that this was the ship he used to flee the secret Amsanct facility. The Chartist Captain was merely a cover for Inquisition operations plying these secret routes. The demise of the ship could not have been a mere coincidence.
